My kitty tracks his cat litter through the house. Is there a brand of litter that stays in the tray?

It's driving me crazy! I have a black slate floor and the white Catsan acts like chalk on it, I'm having to wash the floor and hoover every time kitty answers the call of nature. Is there a brand as good as Catsan for odours, but that doesn't end up *everywhere*? He has a little grooved 'doormat' in front of his litter box too, which is supposed to stop these shenannigans!
