I need help identifying what I think may be a gecko?

pink fleshy tounge,gaping motuh and 2 inch long alligator shape..WIth no picture I cant be sure,But my guess is a gecko.I live outside of St.louis and I have found them to my disbelief..there hardy animals and can addapt pretty much anywhere..Esp panima...The only other explanation is a luestic(albinoism with black eyes) Anole.
